Spectacular Walks

Many wonderful walks can be enjoyed directly from the cottage, with no need to drive. Popular nearby destinations include:

Beautiful riverside walks can be found in Burnsall, Buckden and Hawkswick, while nearby Grass Woods offers ancient woodland, historic hill forts and fascinating settlement remains.

For a change of scenery, a short drive will take you to some of the Dales’ most famous walking locations, including:

  • Ingleton Waterfalls Trail

  • Aysgarth Falls

  • Bolton Abbey

  • How Stean Gorge

  • Brimham Rocks

Each offers a very different walking experience, from dramatic gorges to gentle riverside paths.

 

Cycling

Anglers Cottage sits directly on the route of the 2014 Tour de France and the Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way, a well-signposted circular route that passes through many of the major dales.

For mountain biking enthusiasts, there are numerous circular routes ranging from easy to challenging. One of the most popular is the Kilnsey to Malham track via Mastiles Lane, offering stunning views and a true Dales riding experience.

Anglers Cottage is ideally located beside the rivers Skirfare and Wharfe, offering excellent fishing opportunities.

  • Day fishing permits are available through Kilnsey Angling Club (01756 752301), based at the nearby Tennant Arms pub.

  • Kilnsey Park Trout Farm (01756 752150) offers fishing on a well-stocked lake.

For golfers:

  • Skipton Golf Club welcomes visitors with day rates and group packages (01756 795657).
